The results of an MRI scan has today led to the withdrawal of undefeated prospect Josh “Power” Plant from his BAMMA 29 showdown with Daniel “Pork Chop” Casswell this weekend.
Plant (1-0) made the unfortunate announcement via his Facebook page earlier today.
In his post, the Impact Combat & Fitness trained athlete stated that during the scan “a bilateral bleed on the brain” was detected and as a result, he was not being cleared to fight by regulatory body SafeMMA.
According to medical research, a bilateral bleed is an “untreated high blood pressure which is a major preventable cause of brain hemorrhages. Aneurysm . This is a weakening in a blood vessel wall that swells. It can burst and bleed into the brain, leading to a stroke.”
Today’s news has put a temporarily halt to the career of a fighter that went 1-1 as an amateur before getting his professional career off to a dream start when he scored a 2nd round TKO over Lawrence Jordan Tracey at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 4 in February which set-up a showdown with fellow prospect Casswell (2-1).
At the time of writing it is not yet known if his scheduled BAMMA 29 opponent will Daniel Casswell will feature on this weekend’s card but MMA Plus will keep you updated on this story as well get.
