Nathan Jones takes on the undefeated Walter Gahadza at the joint BAMMA 27 and BELLATOR 169 event on, December 16 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Gahadza (16-0) will be making second BAMMA appearance, having been awarded a win against Colin Fletcher who, was disqualified when they fought at BAMMA 26, for downward elbows to the head (in the first round). Jones has a record of 9-5 including, one win from his past four fights on BAMMA which, was against Oskar Sommerfeld, at BAMMA 19. Going by records alone, Gahadza would be the obvious favourite, however, the mindset of Jones is not phased in the slightest by this, let alone by his opponent’s unbeaten record.

“I thrive on being the underdog.”

“Records are for DJs. When it comes down to actual people knowing what they’re talking about or looking at the actual fights themselves then they can make more educated guesses.

“I’m ready to put it on the line. Not every fighter, not mentioning any names but not every fighter is willing to put it on the line. So, I’m ready to put it on the line, I’m ready to test myself and you know, we’ll see.”

Jones reamins confident of securing a win over Gahadza and discusses the differences in their fighting styles, the calibre of their past opponents and how these will be contributing factors to the outcome of their clash, at the joint BAMMA-BELLATOR event. Also discussed, was Chase Morton’s uncertain future in MMA but interestingly, potential kickboxing fights in the new year.
