BAMMA 26, Craig

MMA Plus have exclusively learned this morning that BAMMA light heavyweight champion Paul Craig (8-0) set to make the first defence of his title against SBG Irelands Chris Fields (11-7-1) in the main event of BAMMA 26 which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 4th 2016 at Dublin’s 3 Arena according to sources close to the situation.

Undefeated Craig also known as “Bearjew” is considered by many as one of the hottest prospects in MMA today after stopping 7 of his 8 victims in the opening round. Now the 26-year old who fights out of the Scottish Hit Squad team will be looking to mark the first defence of the title he won at BAMMA 23 were he defeated Poland’s Marcin “Bane” Lazarz by 1st round triangle choke and will be looking to maintain the perfect start to his professional mixed martial arts career when he squares off with the man they call the “The Housewives Choice”.

His opponent Fields has been on a poor run of form recently, only winning 2 of his last 7 fights so the announcement of this fight may leave a some fans scratching their heads. But after scoring an impressive 1st submission win against Dan Konecke via brobo choke in front of hometown fans at BAMMA 24 in February, the two fighters allegedly clashed back stage moments after his win which resulted in the powers that be at BAMMA deciding to give Fields a crack at Craig’s light heavyweight belt.

This match-up will give the 32-year old the opportunity  to record back-to-back wins for the first time in almost 4-years and become the man who puts an end to the winning start to Craig’s professional career.

At the time of writing this story there is no word on any other fights that will be added to BAMMA 26 but MMA Plus will bring you news on this fight card as we getting.
