BAMMA Featherweight Champion Tom ‘Fire Kid’ DuQuesnoy has signed a fresh deal, announced earlier today by the promotion.

It was speculated that the 21-year-old Frenchman would be set for a switch to the UFC, but the Paris native has extended his contract with the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts.

Specializing in Sambo, DuQuesnoy (10-1) is regarded among the top young prospects outside of the UFC, and is undefeated in his last seven bouts, four of which have been under the BAMMA banner.

Boasting two TKO’s and a submission on UK soil, DuQuesnoy most recently dispatched of Polish challenger Krzysztof Klaczek with a third round TKO at BAMMA 18 in February, but has not fought since. The victory came following a ‘no contest’ that resulted from his match with British standout Ashleigh Grimshaw, who subject to a crippling kick to the groin at BAMMA 16 in September of 2014.

“I had offers from all over the globe,” explained DuQuesnoy, “but I have chosen to stay with BAMMA. They are the most exciting promotion in Europe and they are making some very big statements on where they are headed. It’s exciting for me to be able to showcase my skills on the biggest and the best platform in Europe. Their new TV deal with Spike TV allows me to prove myself to the biggest audience possible.

“I am very happy with the BAMMA team as well, who made this choice easy for me to decide on. I look forward to taking on all the challengers from around Europe. I earned this belt and it is my intention to defend and keep it!

“Good news will arrive very soon, and to stay up to date, you can find me on social networks as ‘Tom Fire Kid’ ”

News on DuQuesnoy’s second title defense is expected to be announced very shortly.
