Cage Warriors have today announced five new fights for next month’s Dublin card, including the rescheduled bout between Håkon Foss and Martyn Harris.

Joe McColgan finally gets opponent

The card was first announced several weeks ago, and though Joe “The SBG Hunter” McColgan (3-0) was on the card, his opponent was still to be determined but it has now been revealed that he will face Arnold “Silverback” Quero (13-5-1NC).

Though inexperienced in his professional career, McColgan has been competing at an amateur level since 2010, amassing a record of 4-1. However, inactivity has held McColgan back somewhat, with the Fight Academy Ireland product fighting just three times since turning pro back in 2012. McColgan comes into this fight off the back of an impressive decision victory over the more experienced SBG Ireland fighter Peter Queally, at BAMMA 26 last September.

Now McColgan draws another experienced competitor in what will be his Cage Warriors debut, as he faces the Parisian, Quero. The Frenchman will be eager to get himself back into the win column, having seen his eight-fight winning streak end in just 12 seconds against Dean Trueman at Cage Warriors 79. That loss, in what was Quero’s Cage Warriors debut, was his first since November 2013. The MMA Factory Lightweight has won nine fights by way of KO, promising an exciting contest.

Håkon Foss and Martyn Harris give it another go

Welterweights Håkon Foss (7-3) and Martyn Harris (4-2) were set to compete at last weekend’s CW80 card in London, and though both men made weight, Harris suddenly was taken ill, and as a result, the fight was postponed. Foss had previously announced that the fight was to be moved to the Dublin card, and that has today been confirmed.

The native of Oslo, Norway comes into the fight on the back of a three-fight win streak, having finished each fight during this run. His last defeat came at the hands of newly crowned Cage Warriors Welterweight Champion Karl Amoussou at Venator FC 2 in 2015. Foss returns to Cage Warriors for the first time in nearly three years, having last competed for the company at CWFC 66 in Denmark.

With his health restored Harris is set to step into the cage looking for a third consecutive victory. The Masters Academy fighter makes his Cage Warriors debut following a three-fight run with regional promotion UCMMA but in Foss, Harris has his toughest fight to date.

Hometown fighters join a stacked card

The CW 81 Main Event sees Belfast’s Karl Moore (7-1) taking on American Josh Clark (10-3) for the promotion’s Light-Heavyweight Championship, and today’s announcement also sees several hometown fighters added to the card.

Darren O’Gorman (4-1) takes on Blaine O’Driscoll (3-1), whilst Hughie O’Rourke makes his professional debut against Arann Maguire (0-1). Both of these fights take place at Bantamweight. Finally, the card is rounded off with a 150lbs catchweight bout between Eric Nolan and Marcin Zembala, two fighters making their pro debuts.
