Cage Warriors 84 Inman vs. Wheeler poster.

Cage Warriors have announced a top domestic welterweight clash for CW84, with former title challenger Matt Inman (19-9) set to face Brad Wheeler (16-10) on June 2.

Cage Warriors announced the news on Tuesday

The event takes place from the Indigo at the O2 on Friday, June 2 and is headlined by Nathaniel Wood, who vies for the vacant bantamweight title against Marko Kovacevic

Both fighters featured prominently on the promotion’s last London card, Cage Warriors 80, experiencing mixed fortunes.

In the main event of CW80, Inman was awarded a chance at the vacant Cage Warriors title against Germany’s top welterweight Karl Amoussou

The hurdle though, proved too difficult for SBG Manchester’s Inman, with Amoussou garnering the finish in the first round, following a hard right hand and subsequent ground strikes.

Wheeler competed in the co-main event, and unlike Inman, secured the victory in front of 2,200 at the O2 Indigo. Scheduled against Warren Kee, the belt had to be switched from a welterweight contest to a catchweight, with Kee missing weight by 3.4lbs.

This did not faze The MMA Clinic trained fighter, who instrumented his supremacy, landing a nasty liver shot to opponent Kee in the second round for the victory.

Neither fighter has competed since their fights at Cage Warriors 80, but both have been active on social media about the potential of facing off against each other.

Inman holds a win over Cage Warriors 83 headliner, Che Mills, a second round submission victory which earned him his chance at the CW 170lb title. Wheeler is 3-1 since 2015, with his only loss coming to Scott Clist
