At Cage Warriors 88, Lee Chadwick has the chance to bring his career full circle and claim the middleweight title of the promotion which hosted his professional debut, 11 years ago.

The vacant 185lb strap is up for grabs in the ECHO Arena, Liverpool when Chadwick battles Victor Cheng at Cage Warriors 88.

Life with Cage Warriors didn’t get off to the best of the starts for Chadwick. The Liverpudlian lost his debut to current welterweight champion Karl Ammousou by submission. However, the 32-year-old has since bounced back in emphatic style.

After drifting around promotions such as Olympian MMA ChampionsBAMMA and Absolute Championship Berkut, Chadwick permanently returned to Cage Warriors in 2017.

Since then, the Atherton Submission Wrestling athlete has won two fights in the very first round.

This impressive return to the division has landed him a title shot against Sweden’s Cheng who comes fresh off the face of a unanimous decision victory over Leeroy Barnes.

This will mark Chadwick’s first major title fight since 2014 and he will be hoping to find success in front of a vibrant home crowd.

The Liverpool card sees a lot of local interest, particularly in lightweight champion Chris Fishgold.

Fishgold, who remains one of Britain’s brightest talents in MMA, faces Norwegian Alexander Jacobsen.

Fishgold has been fighting some well-documented demons outside of the cage and combine this with severe injury problems, it hasn’t been the best 12 months for the Liverpudlian.

However, coach Paul Rimmer insists Cage Warriors 88 is the perfect platform for Fishgold, who makes his first title defence in almost a year.

Another local face looking to impress on the night is Molly McCann. After a successful debut with Cage Warriors, “Meatball” looks to continue her impressive form when pitting her wits against the experienced Priscila De Souza.

With four consecutive victories since her first taste of defeat, McCann is enjoying a rich vein of form and will be looking to continue this in front of her home crowd.

After losing a title fight under Fusion Fight League, De Souza will be hoping to come back with a bang and cause an upset in the North-West of England. Whether Molly Meat’s her match or not is yet to be seen. But she is certainly on the ‘ball’ at the moment.
