On Saturday, July 30, the Liverpool Olympia played host to Shinobi War 8 (SW8) and one of the most explosive rounds of action in UKMMA this year.

At SW8, Shinobi introduced professional fights onto their typically amateur MMA promoted cards. Their first pro main event was a Featherweight match-up between Next Generation MMA fighter, Liverpool’s own Adam Ventre and SBG Ireland prospect Dylan “The Nuke” Tuke.

Despite being the underdog in his home city, Ventre came out the aggressor, landing numerous shots to wobble and buckle the SBGi fighter.

Tuke showed his inexperience, refusing to hold his hands up despite being penetrated by Ventre’s striking.

A relentless Ventre was able to stun Tuke on numerous occasions in the first round, but credit to the resilient Irishman, he refused to quit.

Somehow, Tuke had made it into the second round and it was evident that he wasn’t going to make the same mistakes twice. After reversing a knee bar, Jiu-Jitsu blue-belt Tuke was able to take the back of a slumping Ventre, locking in a tight rear naked choke.

Ventre was unable to tapout in time and subsequently ended up unconscious from the submission.

With the motto #WeCometoFight, there’s no question that both Ventre and Tuke lived up to the billing.
