May 10th.15: MACTO Championships, the UK’s hottest new MMA promotion, are proud to announce the exciting addition of Denniston ‘Mad Max’ Sutherland vs. Avi Jack in a middleweight contest at the inaugural MACTO Championships event on June 27 at the Arena: MK, Milton Keynes.
As the head coach at MMAX Gym in Hemel Hempstead, Jamaican born Sutherland (21-12) serves as one of the UK’s most respected veterans with a wealth of professional fight experience. ‘Mad Max’ boasts a 50% knockout ratio with 10 of his career wins coming via KO/TKO and 20% coming via submission.
Having faced a host of UK MMA standouts over his 9 year career, Sutherland is known for his heart and determination with knockout power in his hands. Sutherland will be making his return to competition after spending a year out of action to recover from injuries and enhance his ability. Sutherland explained that he’s used the time off to change his fighting style and that he looks forward to getting the opportunity to put it to use against a talented opponent.
In contrast, Manchester native Avi Jack (7-4) holds 5 submission wins with two knockout victories and has only gone the distance on one occasion. Fighting out of Predators MMA alongside the likes of Bellator veteran Rob Sinclair, Jack holds a notable TKO victory over the highly decorated Andy DeVent, but Jack is motivated to get back to winning ways following defeat in his last outing.
Jack stated: “I’m really looking forward to being part of MACTO, there’s a lot of buzz around the show and the first card is looking stacked. I’m really happy to be a part of it. I’m fighting a very good opponent and I know it’s going to be a great fight to watch.”
Macto matchmaker James Lutman stated: “Denniston vs. Avi – two game opponents going head to head at MACTO. Seasoned striker vs. submission specialist; this matchup has got all the makings for fight of the night. I personally would not want to call this one.”
Macto Championships’ debut showcase will be headlined by British UFC veteran Nick Osipczak making his eagerly anticipated return to MMA competition, with fearsome knockout artists Alex Montagnani and David Round colliding in the co-main event.
