On August 1 Iranian born contender Mehrdad Janzemini (1-0) takes on his second professional bout at WFS 4 against British submission enthusiast Cliff Meeks (3-1) in an 80kg catchweight bout set for London’s historic York Hall.

Fighting out of Twickenham, London, and representing teams Leo Negai and Nordeste, Janzemini – a silver medalist in the Commonwealth Championship of Combat Sambo, is at the end of his domestic training camp, and is bound for Sweden where he will train with some of Europe’s elite at the Allstars Training Center in Stockholm.

“Training has been going great,” Janzemini explained, “Leo and Ayman Nasrallah have definitely been making it hard for me and also Jon Durrant and Pete Irving have been killing me at Cobra. I have great sparring partners that help me big time and my intensity of training just keeps increasing. I’m away at Allstars this month to finish the remainder of my preparations.”

Janzemini ahs paid attention to Meeks’ striking in particular, but in addition, despite looking impressive on his feet, all three of the Brit’s career wins have come via submission. While he expects a war, the oddly dubbed “Bare Back Jackson” is certain of victory and that he’ll be straight back in the gym after the August 1 fight night.

“I know he used to be Fury champion and has a record of 3-1, I think, and has had a lot more fights than me, and from a very good gym that is Team Titan. He seems like he has some great stand up and I’ve heard from a lot of people he is good, but it doesn’t bother me, I spar killers when I’m away so nothing new to me, so I’m expecting a war.

“I’m focusing a little bit more on my wrestling and stand up as I know he is more of a stand up person and I must be able to dictate where this fight goes. If he expects me to stand with him I’ll take him down, if he expects me to take him down I’ll stand with him, so I’ll be mixing it up. However, I see his ground game is decent so I’m pretty much ready for all areas, I’m comfortable to take it to the ground and comfortable to keep it standing, doesn’t bother me.

“WHEN I win my fight, to be honest, I’ll just get back in the gym and improve on any mistakes I make in this fight. Each fight I will improve as a fighter and grow and my goal is to just stay active throughout the year.”

WFS – Warriors Fight Series may still be a relatively young promotion, coming up on it’s fourth installment, but it’s one promotion who have been quick to capitalized on the absence of Cage Warriors by drafting in a lineup of notable UK talent with regular events.

“I think WFS have definitely put themselves on the radar. Everyone is talking about it.W FS is definitely a promotion to look out for and it’s great to be on the next show.

“I’d like to thank my killer coaches Leo Negao and Ayman Nasrallah for helping my ground game and everyone at Cobra Gym for the help with my stand up, and Allstars Training Center for allowing me to train out there again with the beasts.”
