GLORY heavyweight contender D’Angelo Marshall thinks he is fighting for a title shot when he faces former training partner Ismael Londt on the GLORY 49 SuperFight Series.

The 27-year-old Dutchman, who won the GLORY 41 contender tournament in May, says there are not guarantees, but tells MMA Plus that ‘it looks like’ the winner will be given a fight for the gold.

“It’s no guarantee, but it looks like it. Ismael won a contender tournament, I won a contender tournament, Ismael didn’t get the chance to fight for a belt at the time. Maybe now, for GLORY it also has to a good match,” Marshall says. “They don’t wanna guarantee us (anything), because it has to make sense.”

Marshall trained with current GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven ahead of his fight at the Colosseum gym. If the two meet in the ring, “Pretty Boy” doesn’t expect any problems fighting “The King of Kickboxing”.

“I don’t think about awkwardness. I want to achieve the goal and that’s the belt. Who’s in the way, is gonna get it. I did train with Rico, but we’re not that close. No big deal.”
