‘Bazooka Joe’ Valtellini was forced to vacate his Welterweight championship due to being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. Thus, Nieky Holzken and Raymond Daniels will face off (again) for the vacant belt.
Holzken is considered by many as kickboxing’s pound-for-pound best, and after an open training session with UFC legend Georges St-Pierre, there is little doubt over the Dutchman’s rising notoriety.
‘The Natural’ and Daniels have fought before, back at GLORY 19: Virginia in the Welterweight Contender Tournament Final. It was a superb contest, with Holzken scoring a right hand knockout in the third round.
31 year-old Holzken has never lost inside a GLORY ring, but he faces an awkward challenge in Daniels who never makes for an easy fight with his flashy karateke style.
In the co-main event, the UK’s top Heavyweight Daniel Sam goes up against American prospect Xavier Vigney.
Sam is coming off a pretty comfortable split decision win over Dutch kickboxer Brian Douwes.
However, ‘X-Man’ Vigney has four knockouts in as many showings under the GLORY banner, and holds a win over fellow Brit ‘Chopper’ Chi Lewis-Parry at GLORY 21: San Diego in the finals of the Heavyweight Qualification Tournament.
Las Vegas will mark the fifth GLORY appearance by Sam, and being 1-3 inside the promotion will light a fire under ‘The Warrior’ to get a much needed victory.
Meanwhile, an All-American Middleweight Qualification Tournament will allow the winner entry into the Contender Tournament later in 2015, for a title shot against Artem Levin.
