GLORY Featherweight World Champion Gabriel Varga talks about recovering from injury and facing a tough Sergey Adamchuk at GLORY 25 Milan, who took the opportunity jumping onto the scene.

Canadian Varga opened up on the back and vertebra problems which forced him off the Bellator DYNAMITE 1 card, where he was originally slated to face Adamchuk.

“I’ve been injured for a while now, when I fought Mosab [Amrani] and when I won the contender tournament, i’d say I do about 11 sessions a week and I was getting somewhere between seven and eight that were actually proper training, the other days I was injured. I was missing so many sessions.”

As for what is different now, Varga answered: “This camp was different, I got a huge amount of support, massage, IMS, a bunch of work on my back, so I don’t think I missed even one session this time from a back injury. So it’s so great having actually that GLORY title now and people are actually recognising and wanting to help me.”

Adamchuk is known for his gritty style, however Varga pipped Amrani as his grittiest opponent.

“I’ve watched his fights, he’s not grittier than Mosab, there is no way he’s grittier than Mosab.

“He sort of jumped onto the scene but honestly there’s gotta be thousands, hundreds of guys that out there there that are really good that we don’t know about, they just never got their shot.”
