GLORY Lightweight champion Robin van Roosmalen wants to prove he is an ‘elite’ fighter by defeating Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at GLORY 25 in Milan.

Sitthichai won the GLORY 22 Lille Lightweight Contender Tournament back in June to gain his shot at RvR and because of his performances, van Roosmalen feels that makes himself the underdog going into Milan.

“I feel really happy about that I’m part of the program, even the main event,” said van Roosmalen. “Sitthichai is a great fighter so I’m the underdog even now, even if I’m the champion but Friday I want to prove that I’m an elite fighter.”

Despite his critics, van Roosmalen believes he will showcase his true ability on Friday night: “They think I’m just a normal standard fighter, but I know I’m not, of course he’s a good Muay Thai fighter but this is kickboxing, it’s different.”

In the co-main event of GLORY 25, the returning Giorgio Petrosyan faces Josh Jauncey and van Roosmalen talks aboutĀ his predictions for that fight which will likely produce his next challenger.

“I’ve picked Jauncey because in his last fight againstĀ Sitthichai he lost and I think he wants to redeem himself and I think he’s the hungriest of the two. Petrosyan, he says he’s in good shape, but when I saw his last fight in China, to me he didn’t look like he was the old one.”
