GLORY 23

The British will be out in force when GLORY travel to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 7.

In the GLORY 23 heavyweight co-headline bout, Xavier Vigney looks to add another English scalp to his CV, when he faces veteran Daniel Sam.

Sam hasn’t fought in GLORY since a knockout loss to Benjamin Adegbuyi at GLORY 16: Denver, but has since gone 1-1 including a big win over Brian Douwes in Superkombat.

“My last fight on GLORY was not good, my head was not in the right state last year and it showed in that fight.

“I’m back this year re-focused, hungry, fit, strong and coming off a good win on the Superkombat show in Switzerland.”

Sam, 33, predicts his return to the premier kickboxing promotion will see him get the win as he looks to spoil Vigney’s rise to the top.

“Now I’m back on top of my game I’m looking forward to putting on a great show of skill, speed and power and I’m taking the win against Xavier Vigney on Glory 23. Watch this space I’m coming to take over the party!

Headlining the GLORY 23 SuperFight Series, Chad ‘2Slick’ Sugden faces K-1 World MAX 2012 Winner Murthel Groenhart.

Sugden said: “I would rather fight someone smaller I ain’t going to lie. But it’s a great opportunity.”

After it was rumoured he would fight Raymond Daniels in San Diego, a fight against a K-1 veteran in Las Vegas shows it’s clear GLORY have big plans for Sugden.

“A lot of people are saying it’s a big step up but I’ve got long legs so I will be alright,” joked Sugden.

Coach Dean Sugden also spoke about his son as an underdog and fighting on such a historic show: “We are delighted to be on the card. Fighting in Vegas for the biggest kickboxing promotion in the world; GLORY, is a dream come true. We intend upsetting the apple cart and coming back with an emphatic win.

“Chad will be training and sparring both at Suggy’s Gym, 4th Dimension Mixed Martial Arts as well as Hemmers Gym in Holland.”
