One of the best welterweight kickboxers on the planet will soon return to fighting in the GLORY ring.

Nieky Holzken, 33, the former GLORY welterweight champion, has re-signed with the promotion for a new four-fight deal. “The Natural” posted the news on Twitter on Tuesday. Holzken lost his title to Cedric Doumbe by unanimous decision in his last bout at GLORY COLLISION in Dec of 2016, which was the final fight of the Dutch veteran’s last contract.

According to his post, Holzken says he will be making his return to the ring at GLORY 41, which is slated for Den Bosch, Netherlands on May 20. GLORY has not yet confirmed that information with MMA Plus. In a press release on March 10, GLORY said the next welterweight title fight was expected to take place at GLORY 42 in Paris on June 10, but that may soon change as that fight card has not yet been finalized.

Holzken is currently the No.2-ranked contender and will likely face the winner of the GLORY 39 welterweight title fight between current champion, Doumbe and his opponent, Yoann Kongolo.

The former champion is now 12-1 in the GLORY ring and and his dozen victories put in him second place all-time in the promotion’s history, trailing Rico Verhoeven and Robin van Roosmalen, who both have 13 wins respectively. He won the GLORY welterweight title over Raymond Daniels at GLORY 23 by TKO and defended his belt three straight times before the loss to Doumbe, which was his first defeat in over four years.
