A world championship doubleheader has been added to top kickboxing promotion Glory’s return to New York’s famed Madison Square Garden on July 20.

In the main event of GLORY 55, pound-for-pound great and current undisputed featherweight champion Robin van Roosmalen (40-7, 21 KO) makes the 20th walk of his career under the promotion’s banner to make his 5th defence of the title he won by defeating Gabriel Varga at Glory 34

Standing in van Roosmalen way on July 20 will be a familiar foe in Thailand’s 22-year-old phenom Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao (159-36-2, 27 KO) in a rematch of their GLORY 41 SuperFight Series headline bout last May.

In that fight, the champion was able to secure a contentious majority decision win against the man known as “The Professor” and has since gone on to dominate the 145lbs division, defeating top contender Serhiy Adamchuk and former interim featherweight champion Kevin VanNostrand.

After his narrow loss at Glory 41, Petchpanomrung would rack up a hattrick of wins including two highlight-reel, head kick KO’s of Zakaria Zouggary last December and Abdellah Ezbiri earlier this month at Glory 53.

In their previous two meetings, both Pereira and Belgaroui took a share of the spoils with Belgaroui defeating Brazil’s Pereira as well former champion Jason Wilnis en route to his contender tournament victory at GLORY 40 Copenhagen.

when the pair met again last December at GLORY 49 SuperFight Series, where Pereira who was making the first defence of his newly acquired title cut the 25-year-old challenger Belgaroui with a knee, forcing a doctor’s stoppage and setting up this rubber match in the Big Apple.

Glory 55 New York takes place at the newly-named Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 20 and new fights will be announced in the coming weeks.
