GLORY middleweight champion, Jason Wilnis (30-6-1) and Simon Marcus (45-3-2) will meet in a trilogy fight at GLORY 40 on Saturday April 29, 2017, sources confirmed to MMAPlus on Monday.

That middleweight title fight will headline the five-fight main card, which will take place at Forum Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Wilnis, 26, defeated Marcus in a stunning upset back at GLORY 33 on September 9, 2016, earning a technical knockout in the third round to win the middleweight title. In their first encounter, Marcus defeated Wilnis by split decision in the tournament final at GLORY 20 on April 3, 2015.

“Psycho” has since defended his title once after defeating Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision at GLORY 37. Meanwhile, Marcus, 30, defeated Dustin Jacoby at GLORY 34 on October 21, 2016, breaking Jacoby’s arm in the first round with a kick to earn a technical knockout victory. “Bad Bwoy,” who is now the No.1-ranked middleweight contender, also picked up a win in Foshan, China at Wu Fight over Wang Shaohua this past December.

Danish lightweight Niclas Larsen is expected to fight in the co-main event that evening and the night’s four-man, one night tournament will take place in the middleweight division.

Sources have also confirmed that GLORY 40 will air live on ESPN2. GLORY normally airs live on ESPN3 and is then shown via delay on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

MMAPlus will keep you updated as soon as other fights are announced for the GLORY 40 fight card.
