UK Muay Thai standout Liam Harrison (75-17-2) has been forced to pull out of his scheduled fight with Kongsak Sitboonmee, due to a shin injury. The news that was first broken by Yokkao on their website.
The man known as “The Hitman” picked up the injury in a decision win over Mehdi Zathout to retain his WBC world title at Smash Muay Thai 8 earlier this month.
It was originally thought that the injury to the Bad Company fighter wasn’t that serious and he would still be able to compete at the upcoming Yokkao event which takes place at Bolton’s Reebok stadium next month. But after being examined by a doctor Harrison was subsequently ruled out of the clash.
Yokkao promoters Stefania Picelli and Brian Calder had the following to say about Harrison’s withdrawal. “The health of the athletes is first of all, we want the fighter to be at 100% of their capacity”.
