Iman Barlow teased that a fight against fellow Women’s Bantamweight star Tiffany van Soest will still happen, but only ‘at the right time’.

Scheduled to face Funda Diken for the vacant Bantamweight title at Muay Thai Grand Prix 6, VISA issues for the Turkish fighter meant the fight was pulled from the card, just 48 hours prior.

Barlow explained her frustration, with the bout being pulled whilst she was in the final stages of her weight cut.

“I was having a weight cut, I was on weight and then I found out I wasn’t fighting,” said Iman. “It took me a while for that to process and then I started eating some nice food, yeah. I’m a bit like, excited to be here, obviously to watch the fights and support my friends and see everyone.

“I am gutted but I am glad to be here as well, obviously I would have liked to be here under different circumstances fighting but stuff happens.”

“Pretty Killer” recently competed at Lion Fight 31 in Mashantucket, Connecticut where she defeated Jeri Sitzes to win the Women’s Super-Bantamweight championship.

Still reeling from her monumental win, the Thai Boxer from Melton Mowbray spoke fondly about the growth of women’s muay thai in the UK and how athletes like herself, Dakota Ditcheva and others are proving to be great role models for the sport.

Earlier this year, Barlow was slated to join GLORY Kickboxing’s new Women’s Super-Bantamweight division, but a ‘complicated’ contract put a stop to her potential debut.

The teasing of Barlow’s signature to GLORY prompted massive speculation over a possible fight with two-weight Lion Fight champion Tiffany van Soest.

But with the UK’s Barlow content to remain outside of GLORY for the foreseeable future, all hopes of their women’s super-fight were squashed.

However, speaking to Andreas Georgiou at MTGP 6, the Team Assassins fighter claimed a clash with van Soest could still happen, under the correct circumstances.

She explained: “I’m more than happy to fight her, I think she’s more than happy to fight me. I think it will just be the kind of, the right place at the right time and that is not at the minute.

“There will be a time and we’ll both be in the same place.

“I think she is a massive name, obviously in America and also that’s kinda of transpired over here on the internet and she’s a great fighter.

“So I think it would be a great fight, a great match, we’re two different people, two different styles and that’s what everyone wants to see clash. So it’s what the people want and I think the people will get it, they’ve just got to be patient.”
