Jordan Watson

One of the United Kingdom’s leading thai boxers Jordan Watson is set to face muay thai and kickboxing legend Giorgio Petrosyan next month in Italy.

Watson and Petrosyan will headline Carlo Di Blasi’s Okatagon: Torino show on April 16 – which will serve as the undercard for the debut Bellator Kickboxing event as well as Bellator 152.

Bellator Kickboxing will feature Anastasia Yankova, Raymond Daniels, Melvin Manhoef among others. In the Bellator 152 main event Patricky Freire faces Derek Campos in a Lightweight affair.

Italy’s Petrosyan was originally scheduled to face Enriko Gogokhia on the card, but an undisclosed training injury has forced the Ukrainian out of the bout.

“The Doctor” fought back in January at a Wu Lin Feng, picking up a third round TKO over Jiao Fukai.

It’s definitely a tough task for Watson, with Petrosyan being one of the most awkward and frustrating fighters in the world. If the Armenian-Italian dictates the pace in this fight it could be a challenging affair for Watson; who will likely try to use his tremendous leg kicks to upset the rhythm of Petrosyan.

Bad Company Gym’s Watson will compete against Sanny Dahlbeck next weekend at Yokkao 18 in a rematch of their 2015 scrap where Dahlbeck captured the -70kg title with a fourth round TKO.

Also on the card, Aremen Petrosyan faces China’s Wang Tengyue.
