Remy Bonjasky has mocked Melvin Manhoef for paying him to get beaten up when the two kickboxing legends face off for the fourth time on October 29.

Bonjasky returns to the ring after three years of inactivity to fight Manhoef on WFL: The Final 16 on Oct. 29 in Almere, the Netherlands.

MMA Plus spoke to Bonjasky at the recent WFL press conference on October 3, where Bojasky made fun of opponent and promoter Manhoef, criticising his decision to book the fight as ‘more stupid than anything’.

Bonjasky was also asked about his contact with GLORY, which he negotiated with about a fight with GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven.

Bonjasky said he was insulted by the offer GLORY gave him: “There was some small talk with GLORY. If you’re a K-1 legend with so much experience with talking about your contract, the offer that they made was kinda funny.

“If you gonna buy a brand-new Porsche and only have 10.000 euro in your pocket, it’s not gonna work. That’s what they did. They offered me something that made me that think they didn’t take me serious.”

With the GLORY deal seemingly dead, Bojasky detailed how Manhoef approached him to fight on WFL, which is owned by Manhoef.

“Melvin came to me and said ‘hey, how much do you want for a fight to beat me up?’ I said ‘okay’ and picked a number and he said ‘okay’, maybe I can reach that. Together with Spike TV they came with a nice number.”
