Brett Johns (10-0) joined the MMA PLUS podcast ahead of his North American mixed martial arts debut at Titan FC 33, which takes place March 20, 2015 from Brookley Aeroplex Mobile, Alabama.

Former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Johns challenges for the Titan FC 135lb gold against gritty veteran Walel “The Gazelle” Watson (13-7), which is one of four title fights on the historic event.

The event was originally slated for the beginning of 2015, before Titan FC rescheduled for late March: “The fight was obviously scheduled in January, so I started dieting down for it then, but then obviously they said it was moved to March, so I was cool with that, I didn’t mind it being moved to March, it was extra time to prep really. I’m feeling really good for the fight, I’m feeling ready.”

Brum credited Walel as a great fighter, however added he intends to leave Alabama having proven his is the best out there. “The Pikey” also commented on facing the odds favourite Watson, and his career as a dark horse: “I’ve fought really good guys before, you know let’s take [James] Brum for example last fight, he’s a 16 fight veteran, fought some good guys, and before I fought him I think he was 14-2, and that’s a really good record to have in MMA.

“I’m definitely the underdog for this fight, I think everybody is going for Walel on this one, which is fine by me. You know, I enjoy being the underdog, I don’t know what other fighters feel, but I enjoy being the underdog, I enjoy people saying ‘look he should be losing this fight’.”

He added: “It happened when I fought [James] MacAlister, and I own that fight. The world title fight, I was meant to lose that. Brum, I was an underdog, I failed weight then I was an underdog, people said look is he going to come back stronger? I don’t mind this tag, I don’t mind being the underdog, and I don’t mind being called the favourite either, it doesn’t stop what I’m going to do when I’m out there.”
