With only a couple of hours until The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale, Demetrious Johnson’s opponent  the main event has finally been revealed.  It is now confirmed that Tim Elliot (13-6-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) will face off against UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson (24-2-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) at The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas tonight.

Elliot was previously in the UFC going 2-3 before he was cut from the organisation.  After leaving the organisation the American won three straight bouts subsequently becoming the Titan FC flyweight champion and rightfully earning his place in the tournament.

Elliot started his journey in TUF 24: Tournament of Champions by defeating Charlie Alainz via a bulldog choke in the first round and then submitting his second opponent of the tournament Matt Schnell with a front naked choke. In his third fight The Titan Championship’s champ grinded out a majority decision win over Eric Shelton, before securing his title shot against Demetrious Johnson with a unanimous decision.victory over Shooto champion Hiromasa Ogijkubo in the finals of TUF 24 tournament.

After his previously disappointing spell in the UFC Tim Elliot now has the chance to mark one of the biggest upsets of all time and become only the sixth fighter to capture a UFC title after coming through TUF.

Demetrious Johnson has not been defeated in nearly five years and is the longest reigning current UFC champion at 4 years and 2 months after winning the title at UFC 152 where he defeated Joseph Benavidez in the finals of a tournament to become the first and only UFC flyweight champion.  Since then ‘Mighty Mouse’ has successfully defended his belt eight times matching that of John Jones for the 3rd most successful title defences in UFC history.

The co-main event features the opposing TUF coaches Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo going head to head, these two men are both aware of the challenge Elliot has ahead of him having both tasted defeat at the hands of Mighty Mouse.
