Keri Anne Melendez, the wife of UFC Lightweight standout and former Strikeforce Champion Gilbert Melendez, has officially joined the ranks of Bellator MMA. The news was first reported by Bleacher Report.

While Melendez, 31, does train in mixed martial arts, she will not be competing in an MMA bout, at least not for her Bellator debut. As a professional Muay Thai fighter she is yet to make a pro MMA appearance, but will be in action at Bellator: Dynamite on Sept. 19 in San Jose, California – a hybrid show combining Bellator MMA and GLORY kickboxing in separate bouts.

Melendez, pictured above alongside MMA referee Dan Stell and her husband Gilbert, holds a 2-1 Muay Thai record with a 4-1 amateur background.

Bellator: Dynamite will be headlined by the UK’s Liam McGeary defending his Bellator Light-Heavyweight Championship against MMA legend and former UFC champion, Tito Ortiz.
