Bellator 145

British heavyweight veteran James Thompson is looking to get back in the cage with Kevin Ferguson aka Kimbo Slice now that the American has joined the ranks of Bellator MMA.

Professional boxer and Street fighting legend Kevin Ferguson achieved international notoriety as online videos of his arranged street fights drew millions of hits on the internet. With a 4-2 mixed martial arts record, Ferguson entered the realm of MMA in 2007 and faced Thompson under the Elite XC banner in New Jersey on May 31, 2008. Ferguson claimed victory with a third round TKO, and breathed a sigh of relief having been completely nullified by Thompson as round 2 closed out. The contest is remembered by many for the gruesome cut inflicted on Thompson’s ear prior to the stoppage.

As a veteran of Pride Fighting Championships, Thompson aims to finish his career with a resurgence and is refocused on showing his full ability. Thompson made his Bellator debut last year with a first round TKO stoppage against Eric Prindle in June, and was slated to face Bobby Lashley for a second time at Bellator 124 on February 27, but the American withdrew due to injury. Thompson later stepped away from the card to due illness preventing his ability to train sufficiently, and Cheick Kongo vs. ‘King Mo’ Lawal was instead added to the card.
