Top British welterweight Paul Daley fired shots this morning when he took aim at reigning Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima. It seems that Daley took exception to being messaged by the Brazilian’s coach, Roan Carneiro, regarding the anticipated fight between Daley and his training partner, Lima.

Daley (36-13-2) was set to challenge Lima (26-5) for the Bellator title on February 27, however Lima pulled out of the contest due to injury, and Daley went on to best replacement opponent André Santos by way of unanimous decision in the co-main event of Bellator 134.

Despite knocking down Santos on several occasions in an overall dominant performance, ‘Semtex’ was openly unsatisfied with his showing; admitting that he felt rusty against Santos who put in an extremely hardy effort.

It was expected that Daley’s next bout would be against Lima, 27, for the championship, however the 32-year-old knockout artist feels the need for an additional fight in the meantime.

Interestingly, it appears that Daley’s patience has frustrated the Lima camp with Carneiro seeking to lure out the Nottingham based fighter, but an unperturbed Daley responded with the following message:

“Douglas Lima, please speak for yourself…..do not get this little bitch UFC fighter Roan Jucao Carneiro, (your coach and training partner) to message me…..our fight is going to happen, relax..your beating will come….and it will be one without debate.
I will not be accepting a fight with you next, and have been open about wanting more cage time/another fight prior to our title clash….
Put your bitch back on a leash!”
