Bellator 130 went down last night, Oct. 24 at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas. The UK’s Linton Vassell was unable to snatch the light-heavyweight crown, but that didn’t stop ‘The Swarm’ putting Emanuel Newton through his paces for over four rounds as the reigning champ’s most stern test to date. The champion was troubled early on as Vassell’s forceful ground game produced a barrage of transitions and near submission finishes, even evading Newton’s signature spinning back fist; the competition lasted into the final round until Newton took advantage of his tiring opponent and retained the championship with a rear-naked-choke submission.

In addition, ‘The Dominator’ Bobby Lashley made quick work of Blackpool’s Karl Etherington in the co-main event by capitalizing on a failed throw attempt that saw Etherington fall flat on his face, inviting Lashley to rain down with strikes that forced a submission from his opponent.
