Absolute Championship Berkut have their main event for ACB 47: Braveheart on October 1 and it’s a cracker for the Scottish fans. Robert Whiteford returns home to face Kevin Petshi at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Per a press release, the fight will be contested at a 140lb catchweight. This will be Whiteford’s first fight since he was released from the UFC in May following two consecutive losses.

The Scottish fighter will return to the scene of his most impressive victory, the SSE Hydro. 33-year-old Whiteford was the first Scot to walk out in front of 10,000 strong of his own at UFC Fight Night 77.

Entering to the ‘Flower of Scotland’, Whiteford easily dispatched of Paul Redmond, winning by knockout in the first round.

His opponent Petshi, is a renowned French grappler with a plethora of accolades including a gold medal at the 2013 FILA Senior European Grappling Championships (BJJ). Similar to Whiteford, he holds a strong background in Judo.

UK fans may be familiar with Petshi, as he has competed in the UK before. At FCC 12 he lost via submission to highly touted Scouser Paddy Pimblett.

October 1 will mark ACB’s first event on the British Isles; with speculation that it will open to the gate for more, and Russian-based promotion are staking a huge claim on the market with the inclusion of Whiteford, among other talent: Saul Rogers, Norman Parke and Danny Mitchell.
