A welterweight fight between Gunnar Nelson and Ryan LaFlare is set to feature on the upcoming UFC Dublin card.
The news that was one of five fights announced this evening on UFC Beyond the Octagon will see Nelson (12-0-1) look to continue an impressive start to his UFC career, which saw him defeat DaMarques Johnson and Jorge Santiago, before injury brought a temporarily halt to his UFC career. Nelson would makes his return last month at UFC Fight Night 37 where he would defeat Russian fighter Omari Akhmedov via 1st round guillotine choke.
His opponent and fellow undefeated prospect LaFlare (11-0) is coming off a hard fought unanimous decision win over John Howard earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 39 in Abu Dhabi and will look to secure his 4th straight victory inside the octagon.
Other fights announced this evening includes a flyweight fight between Brad Pickett and Ian McCall, as well as a light heavyweight clash between Ilir Latifi who will take on the returning Tom Lawler who has been out for a number of months through injury.
Also on the card is a pair of fights between Cody Donovan who will take on Nikita Krylov who will both be looking to bounce back from recent defeats and Drew Dober taking on Nick Hein.
Finally in what my come as a surprise to some is the announcement that Phil Harris will take on Irishman Neil Seery. Englishman Harris makes an immediate return to the worlds number 1 mixed martial arts promotion after being cut following back-to-back defeats, the last of which was at UFC Fight Night 37 last month. His opponent Seery will be looking to get his first win inside the octagon after being on the wrong end of a unanimous decision to Brad Pickett also at UFC Fight Night 37.
This fight will act as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night in Dublin takes place July 19 at The O2.
