(London, United Kingdom | Friday, August 29, 2014) – Cage Warriors Fighting Championship will crown its first ever women’s bantamweight world champion on Saturday, November 15, 2014.
The title will be on the line when undefeated duo Pannie Kianzad and Agnieszka Niedzwiedz clash over five rounds at CWFC 74 at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park.
Kianzad (6-0), who hails from Helsingborg in Sweden, will go into the championship bout on the back of her third-round TKO stoppage of Megan van Houtum last weekend at CWFC 71 in Amman.
The 22-year-old holds other notable victories over current UFC fighter Milana Dudieva, Bellator’s Annalisa Bucci and fellow CWFC bantamweight contender Lina Akhtar Lansberg.
“I’m really proud and excited to be fighting to become the first ever Cage Warriors women’s bantamweight world champion,” said Kianzad, a Rumble Sports team-mate of current CWFC welterweight world champion Nicolas Dalby.
“I’ll be looking to represent my team as best I can, and I look forward to putting on an exciting fight in London in November.”
In her most recent Cage Warriors outing, Niedzwiedz (7-0) picked up a submission-of-the-night win against Gemma Hewitt at CWFC 67 in Swansea back in April.
A native of Katowice in Poland, 19-year-old Niedzwiedz has taken all but one of her wins by stoppage, with two submissions and four by TKO.
Niedzwiedz said: “Pannie Kianzad is a very good fighter and I may need the two extra rounds to stop her. We’ve both earned this chance and we’ll show everyone some world-class women’s MMA in London.
“We’re both young and determined, but I’m younger and more determined. Pannie, you asked for this fight, and I’m looking forward to showing you how much of a mistake that was.”
Cage Warriors 74 will mark CWFC’s first ever event at the Copper Box Arena, which hosted handball at the 2012 Olympic Games and has since staged several large boxing events, as well as being the current home of British Baskteball League team London Lions.
“After a number of sell-out London events at The Forum in Kentish Town over the past couple of years, we’re excited to be bringing Cage Warriors to the Copper Box,” said Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan.
“The card for Cage Warriors 74 is going to be something special, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Pannie and Agnieszka fight to make history as our first women’s bantamweight champion.
