Newly-crowned UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is expected to fight TJ Grant in his first title defence, despite immediately calling out Jose Aldo.

Pettis (17-2), who took the 155lb title from Henderson with a first-round armbar, wasted no time in calling out featherweight champion Jose Aldo (23-1) during his post-fight interview.

The two were scheduled to meet at UFC 163, but an injury forced Pettis out of the bout. While Aldo did accept the challenge, the UFC opted to pitch Pettis against #1 lightweight contender Grant (21-5), who finished dangerous lightweight Gray Maynard in May.

However, an injury on ‘Showtime’s’ left knee during Saturday’s title bout may delay that fight. Pettis’ knee was damaged while checking a kick by the former champion and, while it wasn’t enough to cause any visible problems during the bout, the UFC matchmakers are waiting the results of his MRI scan before booking his clash with Grant.
