Bellator are soon to prepare for an all out ratings war with the UFC, when the Viacom promotion reveals it’s plan to stage a contest of former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs boxing legend Roy Jones Jr, according to multiple close sources, explained by mmajunkie.com. The headline bout is expected to go head on with UFC 168.

Expected to be announced at next week’s Bellator 97, the rumoured boxing match is reportedly targeted for the end of this year. However, whether the fight will be MMA or boxing based is yet to be confirmed, as well as a date and weight class.

“We’ve been talking to Roy and his people over a potential ‘Rampage’ vs. Roy fight for over seven months,” a representative from Jackson’s longtime UK based team, Wolfslair MMA, told MMAjunkie.com.

“If it happens, it would be an incredible fight. Boxing and MMA have both been discussed, and (Bellator Chairman and CEO) Bjorn (Rebney) has been in these discussions every step of the way. I can’t say much more than that. We’ll see what happens.”
