Rizin Fighting Federation made a slew of important announcements on Friday, revealing Kyoji Horiguchi will face Brazilian striker Gabriel Oliveira on December 29 in Saitama Super Arena.

Coming off an impressive performance against UFC and PRIDE veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri, Oliveira earned a knockout victory in the October edition of the Japanese promotion’s event in Fukuoka City.

Oliveira enters to Rizin Bantamweight Grand Prix and challenges Horiguchi, who scored a TKO win against popular veteran Hideo Tokoro, last July.

The winner of this bout advances to the semi-finals on December 31 to face the victor of the opposing bracket between Ian McCall and Manel Kape.

Birchak could face Horiguchi if an injury occurs

Another announcement from Rizin indicated the return of American Anthony Birchak.

Coming off two losses in Japan, against Tatsuya Kawajiri and Takafumi Otsuka, Birchak gets another opportunity in the Rizin cage and faces South Korean fighter, Jae Hoo Moon.

Moon is coming back after the loss to Frenchman Kevin Petshi, last October in Fukuoka.

This bout will be a reserve match in the Grand Prix, with the winner a potential to step up into the Bantamweight tournament if an injury or medical issue occurs on December 31.
