According to UFC executive Marshall Zelaznik, Brazilian light-heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira (21-2) could well be next in line for a 205lb title shot, should he impressively overcome the UFC’s no.10 ranked light heavyweight Ryan Bader (15-3), when they meet next month at UFC Fight Night on Fox Sports 1.

“Dana (White) and Joe (Silva) have confirmed with a strong victory by Glover that he probably gets the winner of the Jon Jones (vs Alexander Gustafsson) fight,” explained Zelaznik at the UFC 163 post-fight press conference.

He continued, “Glover’s got an opportunity to go for that belt with a big win, so we’re expecting big things in Belo Horizonte.”

Undefeated in the UFC (4-0), Teixeira is riding a fierce 19-fight win streak that dates back to May, 2006. The no.3 ranked contender most recently finished James Te Huna with a first round guillotine choke at UFC 160.

In contrast, ‘Darth’ Bader bounced back from a loss to former champion Lyoto Machida, defeating Vladimir Matyushenko with a guillotine choke of his own back in January.

Teixeira vs Bader headlines the card in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, at the Mineirinho Arena on September 4.
