The UFC Strawweight division has an important fight this weekend, with a clash of Brazilians at UFC Fight Night 117 in the legendary Saitama Super Arena. Former championship contender Claudia Gadelha (15-2) still yearns for another shot at the title, but for now, remains focused on her bout against Jessica Andrade.

Looking for another opportunity to fight for the UFC title — which is currently held by Joanna Jedrzejczyk  Gadelha wants to showcase her skills to get that chance again.

“My idea about the fight was trying to understand what Jessica wants to do in that match and use my strategy and skills to do my thing, as [I] trained in last two months for that,” Gadelha told MMA Plus in an interview.

Claudia still has big plans in UFC, but for now, she must wait in line. Sharing her verdict on Jedrzejczyk’s title defence against Rose Namajunas on November 4 in New York, Gadelha feels Joanna will prove too good for her UFC 217 challenger.

“Joanna [is] actually still in front. Rose is a very good athlete but I think she needs more time to reach Jedrzejczyk’s level. I think Joanna will win that fight,” revealed Gadelha.

But after “Joanna Violence” and “Thug Rose” throw down in New York, Gadelha is calling for the next shot.

“Of course I want for the title next. I have goals here in UFC and want to be a champion. I’m coming closer to reach[ing] that since Invicta FC, two times I was fighting for the belt and in UFC also. But for now I’m focused on Jessica and after that job [is] done this Saturday, for sure I want the title shot,” expressed the 28-year-old ahead of her title eliminator in Japan.
