One of the most important fights in the UFC women’s strawweight division has been announced, as fierce Brazilian contenders Claudia Gadelha and Jessica Andrade get ready to clash inside the legendary Saitama Super Arena at UFC Fight Night Japan in September.

Coming off an unsuccessful attempt to capture the 115lb title from Polish champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Andrade will now face number one ranked contender Gadelha. The 28-year-old has only recently bounced back from from her own loss to the champ with wins over Cortney Casey and Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Brazilian website Combate was first to report the news and MMA Plus confirmed with sources that the fight will indeed happen in Saitama and be a part of the main card portion of the event.

With 15 wins and only two losses, both of which came at the hands of current champion Jedrzejczyk, “Claudinha” will look to earn yet another shot at 115lb gold. Her opponent, Jessica Andrade has 16 wins and six losses, the last of which came to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211 in May.

Despite both fighters having lost to the current strawweight queen, lack of depth in the division means this fight will no doubt put the winner back into title contention.
