Fresh off his knockout of the night performance at UFC 204 where he scored a brutal 2nd round KO win over Ovince Saint Preux (19-9), London’s Jimi Manuwa (16-2) has now set his sights on a potential title shot in the future.

During his appearance on the Combat and Strength podcast Manuwa gave the shows hosts Joel Campbell, Master Wong and Joe Long an insight into his plans for the future.

“It was a great win but I’m trying not to get caught up in the whole celebration thing as I just want to keep the momentum going. In the weeks leading up to it I great because I had approached training in a different way and everything just came together.”

With this win ‘The Poster Boy” racked up the 14th stoppage victory of his career to break into the top 5 UFC light heavyweights rankings in a performance that seemingly rolled back the years to see the reemergence of the fighter that was the surge of UK domestic mixed martial arts scene. When asked who he would like to fight next true to form Manuwa gave his usual reserved answer.

“I don’t do callouts but except for Alexander Gustafsson who I train with at AllStars Gym everyone ranked above me is on my list so its not hard to predict who I want. Ryan Badr looks good and I’ve said before I think that would be a good fight for me.”

The 36-year old also expressed his desire to fight again before the end of 2016 against one of his fellow top ranked light heavyweight who are not currently booked to fight.

“I think [another fight] is realistic for me. I’m not to hurt although I hurt my foot during the fight kicking but thats about it, all the other little bits of brushing will be gone in about a week and then I’ll be straight back into training as I want to keep my momentum going and get another one in before the end of the year.”
