Stipe Miocic, UFC Netherlands

Third ranked UFC Heavyweight Stipe Miocic wants his UFC heavyweight title shot.

After over coming Mark Hunt in Adelaide, Australia, Miocic belives that he is next in line to face Fabricio Werdum for the heavyweight strap.

“I want a title shot, I want to fight Werdum.” He added, “I’ve put my time in, I want my shot, and I’m going to get it.”

He also opened up about the current debate on Cain Velasquez adjusting to altitude as the main factor in his UFC 188 title loss to Werdum.

“I’ve never fought at altitude but there was ring rust, he hadn’t fought in the cage for almost two years. But it looked like a bit of everything combined.”

As for the current champion, Miocic showed respect towards the Brazilian, and how he has evolved alongside the sport.

“He’s tough, he’s beat some good guys, but who knows maybe it was good timing but the guy has been on a tear, he gets better every fight, just like the sport he’s evolving.”

Stipe Miocic also spoke about a potential big rematch against Junior dos Santos, a 2014 fight which Miocic lost on points, despite a large amount of people believing he did enough to win the fight.

“I actually went five rounds, I’m not going to be an idiot and take him down 100 times, you know I can beat him on the feet. I know he’ll come back stronger too, a lot of things change but i’ve definitely matured in those last two fights.”
