Early on Tuesday morning, it was officially announced that British favourite Marc “The Bonecrusher” Diakiese will be headed to Las Vegas to face Dan Hooker at UFC 219.

Diakiese (12-1) is set to return to the octagon after his first taste of defeat. His last outing was a unanimous decision loss to Drakkar Klose in July, a performance that even the 24-year old was not happy with.

If you have been following the career of Diakiese you know that he is one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC’s lightweight division and his finishes of Teemu Packalen and Lukasz Sajewski were early warnings to the rest of the division that a new future contender was on the scene.

Top U.K prospect Marc Diakiese has sent an early warning to his UFC 219 opponent.

Now that the former BAMMA Lonsdale Lightweight champion has an opponent that he asked for in Dan Hooker (14-7), he has an early warning for the New Zealander.

“It’s a matchup that excites me,” Diakiese told MMAPlus. “He wanted it, I wanted it so the fans are in for a treat on December 30th but one thing I’ll say to Dan Hooker, I’m hungrier than ever so make sure you bring your A game.”

The New Zealander will make a fun opponent as he too loves to stand and bang. His last outing was a brutal knockout win over Ross Pearson, his third UFC stoppage win.

Winning three of his last five fights, Hooker will be looking to make a run at the title and a win over Diakiese would be a good way to start.

UFC 219 takes place on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and has yet to have the main event announced. The card will see the return of former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and Welterweight contender Carlos Condit.
