British welterweight standout Alex Montagnani is finally back in action for the first time under the banner of Macto Championships following his memorable flying knee KO of Tim Menzies at BAMMA Fight Night last June.

Montagnani (7-1-1), a 6’3 welterweight boasting 6 knockout victories, has opted not to sign with the British Association of Mixed Martial arts in favor of a non-exclusive contract with what he feels is ‘complete’ with comfort and ‘freedom’.

Montagnani quickly established himself as one of the fiercest 170lb contenders in BAMMA with a pair of first round stoppages over Menzies and Nathan Jones.

Macto are set to present their inaugural event on June 27 at Arena: MK in Milton Keynes with the co-main event featuring London’s Montagnani taking on Welsh veteran David ‘One More’ Round (13-12). Round has proven tremendous knockout power over his 25 fight career with 12 KO wins, many coming against significantly larger opposition. Furthermore, Round holds a first round submission win over current BAMMA British champion and world title challenger Andy De-Vent.

The news comes in conjunction with the launch of Macto Championships, a freshly developed promotion based in Milton Keynes and developed as a collaboration between former ‘TMT: Too Much Talent’ heads James Lutman and Bradley Burnell, and new investors Ross Laurence, Wad Alemeddine and Chris Emmanuel; best known as one of the UK’s most prolific management teams.

Macto Championships’ inaugural show will also feature a main event of UFC veteran Nick Osipczak making his highly anticipated MMA return against hard hitting Londoner Wendle Lewis.
