MMA Plus has learned that Wendle Lewis has withdrawn from the welterweight main event of Macto Championships on June 27 where he was set to face returning UFC veteran Nick Osipczak at Arena: MK in Milton Keynes.

Macto Championships’ organisers are currently working on a replacement opponent for Osipczak with London’s Lewis having withdrawn for personal reasons. Macto confirmed the development in a statement with MMA Plus.

“Wendle ’Kojo’ Lewis has withdrawn from the inaugural MACTO Championships headline event with Nick Osipczak. His management have informed us that this is for ‘personal reasons’; therefore, we have respected Wendle’s privacy and not asked for them to elaborate further. It’s with regret that we must change our headline event, and hope that Wendle can overcome any issue he’s dealing with. However, we now have the hottest current opportunity for a welterweight in UK MMA! Who is going to step up to the plate and face Nick? Our matchmaking team will provide you with further announcements as and when ready. Rest assured, MACTO will only provide you with the very best match-ups for your combat entertainment.”

Macto Championships present their inaugural event on June 27 at Arena: MK in Milton Keynes with a main event still set to feature Nick ‘Slick’ Osipczak who makes his much anticipated return to MMA competition. In the co-main bout, fearsome welterweight strikers Alex Montagnani and David ‘One More’ Round will collide, and furthermore, big hitting striking specialists Fraser ‘The Omen’ Opie and Louis ‘KO’ King will face of in a K-1 rules bout at a catch-weight of 90kgs.

It’s expected that additional fights are soon to be announced along with a replacement opponent for Osipczak.
