Welterweight contender Lewis Long will make a return to action on home soil next month as he faces promotional newcomer Roberto Soldic in the main event of Cage Warriors 87.

Cage Warriors 87 will take place on Saturday, October 14 at the Newport Centre in Newport, Wales and as well as the welterweight main event, will also feature another clash between 170lb contenders, as Craig “Thundercat” White takes on former title challenger Matt Inman.

Long (15-4) will look to continue his ascendency up the 170lb rankings and earn a shot at welterweight champion Karl Amoussou after the Welshman has lost only once in the past four years. With all eight of his victories during that spell coming inside the distance, many would say Long is overdue a title shot and should earn his chance with a win over rising prospect Soldic (11-2).

His 22-year-old Bosnian opponent arrives on these shores riding a five-fight win streak, all of which he finished by KO/TKO, and is German promotion Supreme FC’s welterweight champion. Most recently scoring a win over English fighter Dez Parker at Superior FC 18, Soldic will attempt to replicate his success against Long in what will surely be the biggest test of his short career so far.

Also on Cage Warriors 87, Welsh pair Jack Shore and Aaron Khalid also get the chance to shine in front of their home fans as they take on Federico Mini and Ross Houston respectively.
