Søren ‘True Viking’ Bak will enter enemy terriority and attempt to win the Cage Warriors lightweight title against Liverpool’s own Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett on September 1st.

The fight will headline the promotions return to Liverpool’s Echo Arena and will be almost 2 years to the day since Pimblett was crowned the featherweight champion in front of his adoring fans.

Standing in his way of “The Baddy” earning his second Cage Warriors title is Denmark’s Søren Bak, a man considered by many as the toughest 155 pounder on the Graham Boylan-led promotions lightweight roster.

Bak earned his shot at gold after he submitted Alexander Jacobsen in devastating fashion at CW93 earning the 25-year old his 10th win as a professional.

In his last outing, Pimblett who trains out of the city’s famed Next Generation gym marked his return in spectacular fashion, pulling off a highlight-reel flying triangle submission at CW90 last February.

That finish was the 23-year olds 10th finish since turning pro and was watched by Bak at home in Denmark, who was less than impressed with Pimblett’s performance, stating that “he’s going to get smashed if he tries that against me.”

These taunts forced the Liverpudlian to respond to Bak’s boast by confidently saying “Now I know I’m finally fighting Søren it’s even better. He’s going to feel it when he walks out come September first. I told you, pal, you’re getting slapped up even more for the cheek. Hope you’re ready to get your head jabbed off because I’m going Viking hunting.”

CW96 goes down on Saturday, September 1st at Liverpool’s Echo Arena and MMA Plus will be on hand to bring you the latest from the event.
