Cage Warriors 86 has its main event, as newly-crowned Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Nathaniel Wood will make his first defense against Josh Reed at the Indigo at the O2; the same place where he won the title.

The promotion announced the news for their September 16 London show, on Wednesday morning.

Reed burst onto the professional circuit with four straight submission victories before signing to Cage Warriors where he has since added three more wins to his perfect professional record. The Welshman has earned himself a shot at the 135lb belt after defeating the likes of Martin Sheridan, Ben Rees and Gavin Kelly during his time with the promotion.

Wood became the first man from London to be crowned Cage Warriors champion when he walked away with a first round knockout over Swiss contender Marko Kovacevic at Cage Warriors 84 earlier this month. “The Prospect” will look to make it four wins on the bounce after securing stoppage victories over Chase Morton, Vaughan Lee and Kovacevic.

Joining the pair on the London card is Wood’s teammate, Corrin Eaton who is set to make his Cage Warriors debut against Dean Trueman, who will be looking to get back in the win column after having his three-fight win streak snapped at CW82 in Liverpool.

Another Welshman set to appear at Cage Warriors 86 is welterweight contender Lew Long as he looks to continue his recent form; Long will enter the bout on September 16 on the back of three first round victories.
