Free-to-view television is about to get a huge dose of mixed martial arts action as new channel Front Runner invests heavily in combat sports programming.

The new action network will broadcast from Freeview channel 91 and has acquired the exclusive rights to feature various Ultimate Challenge MMA content in the UK.

British reality show Born to Fight follows 16 novices on their journey to become trained professional fighters. The programme is a product of UCMMA and Dave O’Donnell.

UCMMA will also feature on Front Runner, with events and historic fights from The Troxy, London being aired Saturdays at 10pm and Sundays at 9pm.

Ryan Scarratt, of Front Runner commented: “We’re really excited to be bringing these shows to UK TV for the first time. We know there’s a huge audience out there in the world of mixed martial arts, and we’re sure they’re going to love watching what these guys get up to.”

It has also been confirmed to MMA Plus that Front Runner will be the new television home to Tanko Fighting Championships. Tanko events will be broadcast in primetime on Saturday nights beginning with TFC 2 on December 3, at the Victoria Warehouse, Manchester.

More information about TFC on Front Runner is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

As well as MMA, the new freeview channel will also feature skateboarding, surfing, motocross, BMX, boxing and snowboarding with live sports coming soon.
