The fast approaching debut of Macto Championships just got bigger with the addition of UFC heavyweight veteran Oli Thompson facing off agaisnt Poland’s Kamil Bazelak on June 27 at the Arena: MK in Milton Keynes.

May 11th.15: MACTO Championships, the UK’s hottest new MMA promotion, are proud to announce the heavyweight contest of Oli ‘The Spartan’ Thompson vs. Kamil ‘Vanderlei’ Bazelak, set for the inaugural MACTO Championships event on June 27 at the Arena: MK, Milton Keynes.
Thompson (13-8) is set to take the next step in his MMA career under the banner of MACTO Championships. As a former champion of “Britain’s Strongest Man”, the British juggernaut evolved his athletic ability in 2009 when transitioning to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Since then, ‘The Spartan’ has competed around the world as a veteran of the UFC, IGF and other prominent European promotions.
Thompson was last in action on April 11 in Tokyo, Japan, where he defeated Japanese icon Ikuhisa Minowa via unanimous decision. Fighting out of ZT Fight Skool, the East Sussex native has also found success in the boxing ring with a debut win during November of 2014. Thompson has claimed over 80% of his career MMA wins via stoppage with 5 victories via knockout and 6 coming by way of submission.
His opponent, Polish karate practitioner Kamil Bazelak (2-4), turned heads in March with a determined effort that saw him come from behind to snatch a TKO victory against Karl Etherington. Similar to Thompson, Bazelak is also a strongman veteran, and after making the switch to MACTO, the VTP Gym product will be looking to continue his momentum.
Thompson stated: “I’ve got big fights coming up for IGF in Japan and KSW. When I heard about the new MACTO promotion and the people involved, I was excited and very keen to get involved with a credible UK show. My opponent is a strongman competitor so it has an added incentive to go out and get a dominant win. 2015, a new start, I won out in Japan and I will win at MACTO 1.”
Macto Championships’ debut showcase will be headlined by British UFC veteran Nick Osipczak making his eagerly anticipated return to MMA competition, and fearsome knockout artists Alex Montagnani and David Round will collide in the co-main event.
