Mike Grundy will enter enemy territory to face Japan’s Yutaka Saito at the latest edition of Shooto Japan which takes place at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan on 29 January 2017.

Grundy (8-1) who won a Bronzes medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2014 Commonwealth Games is currently riding a 4-fight winning streaking since being on the wrong end of a 2nd round submission loss to Damian Stasis at BAMMA 19.

Since that setback the 29-year old from Wigan, Greater Manchester has scored 3 finishes in the opening round against Damian FrankiewiczZsolt Fenyes and most recently Daniel Vasquez at ICE Fighting Championships 18 last October and gone to a decision on one occasion against Marley Swindles last May.

It is this scintillating form that has earned a fight in the land of the land of the rising son against an opponent with more then twice his experience.

Saito (12-2-2) will enter the bout coming off the back of a shock 5 round split decision loss to Isao Kobayashi to Vale Tudo Japan last September.

That defeat snapped a 11-fight unbeaten run for the Paraestra Kiowa fighter which stretched back to February 2013.

The 29-year old will be looking to get back to winning ways when enters the Shooto ring against the tough Team Kaobon trained featherweight later this month.
