Asia’s biggest female MMA star Angela Lee would put in a completely dominant performance on her way to defending her Atomweight title against undefeated challenger Jenny Huang at ONE Championship: Warrior Kingdom on Saturday night.

ONE Championship: Warrior Kingdom took place on Saturday, March 11 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand and turned out to be a quiet night for the judges as only one fight would go the distance.

Lee dominates main event and secures third round finish

In the main event, Lee returned to defend her Atomweight belt for the first time since she defeated former champion Mei Yamaguchi in a spectacular fight in May 2016. Looking to take the strap was unbeaten Taiwanese prospect Huang.

In the first round, the champion would come flying out the traps from the opening bell and for the first two rounds, Huang offered very little offence in return. Lee would light up the contender with combinations and dominated every striking exchange as Huang would never find her way into the fight.

“Unstoppable” Lee would go for the kill in the third round and engineered a brutal TKO finish by first securing Huang’s wrist with her arm trapped behind her back. The finish became painful to watch as the challenger took heavy strikes to her unprotected face and head before the referee finally stopped the destruction.

The sky’s the limit for the 20-year-old champion as she is now arguably one of Asia’s biggest MMA draws and breakthrough stars after gaining a big following in the continent. Finishing six of her seven bouts inside the distance, the North American-born fighter could see a rematch against former champ Yamaguchi who’s the only opponent to take her the distance.

Also on the card, former ONE Strawweight champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke would lose by a close split decision to Filipino prospect Joshua Pacio.

Returning for the first time since May 2016 after losing his title to current champion Yoshitaka Naito, Amnuaysirichoke was unable to get back to winning ways in a three round tit-for-tat battle. Unlucky to lose despite landing the harder more effective strikes, Amnuaysirichoke would fall to his second successive defeat.

Elsewhere, former world boxing champion Yodsanan Sityodtong would get a verbal tap from Filipino fighter Ramon Gonzalez after punishing him throughout round two.

After a close first round, Sityodtong would settle into the fight and started to pressure and overwhelm Gonzalez. His experience showing through, the 42-year-old started to find a home for his massive power punches, which stunned and rocked his foe, who would fail in a desperate takedown attempt. From there he rained down knees on the facedown Gonzalez who would verbally tap soon after the punishment.

Meanwhile, former Lumpinee champion and Muay Thai star Sagetdao Petpayathai defeated Malaysian prospect Kelvin Ong in his MMA debut. Showing off the tools of his trade, a vicious clinch game and hard knees and elbows would eventually force the TKO stoppage in the first round.

Also, entering dressed as the Pink ‘Power Ranger’, Rika Ishige would win over all her home fans in Bangkok with an impressive first round TKO over Audreylaura Boniface proving she could match the flair with an impressive debut performance.
