August 29th, 2014 – Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley’s opponent for BAMMA 16, Igor Fernandes has withdrawn from the headlining fight due to a tibia fracture sustained in training last week. The news was broken by MMA Fighting last night, ahead of the event which takes place in two weeks time at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester (UK). A replacement in the shape of Brazilian, Marinho Moreira da Rocha, was officially confirmed yesterday by BAMMA matchmaker, Jude Samuel.

Marinho Moreira da Rocha flies in from Conceicao Do Araguaia, Para in Brazil fighting out of Coalizao Fight Team. The 31 year old boasts a professional MMA record of 28-6 with a 75% KO/ TKO victory rate. Only 3 of his wins, clocked up over a decade, have come by way of the judges’ score cards.

Household name, Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley is one the world’s most notorious and exciting fighters, globally renowned for his explosive knock out power. With a current professional MMA record of 34-13-2,  74% of Daley’s total wins have been achieved by KO or TKO. Daley also holds a 18-3 kickboxing record and has gone 5-0 this year, all with KO victories. With one more fight to go on his BAMMA contract after BAMMA 16, Daley is also now signed to US promotion Bellator. BAMMA 16 marks the promotion’s first return to Manchester since BAMMA 5, where Daley knocked out Yuja Shirai, 1:46 into Round 1.

BAMMA matchmaker, Jude Samuel, commented:

” Marinho Moreira da Rocha is also a striker and has a knock out ratio as big as Paul’s. Sparks are going to fly.”
